Happy Holi!!

The festival of colors has arrived!! ūüôā The preparations for Holi are going on everywhere with full enthusiasm, energy and joy. For this year’s Holi decorations, I made these colorful flowers to be decorated in the New Jersey Satsang hall. These are very simple to make flowers made out of construction paper. I have also made a tutorial of making these flowers just with photographs. Check it out!!

Shoe box Library

Shoebox Library:

My son Ansh¬†who just joined Kindergarten¬†last month had been bringing these little books from school which¬†he¬†made himself in class. These were number books, alphabet books, coloring books etc. Kids cut out the sheet themselves and organized the pieces in order and the teacher stapled them together to form a book…this was such a¬†cute idea!!

The teacher also¬†told the kids to make¬†shoe box library at home with mommy to keep the books together. So Ansh and I decided to create our own shoe box library. Luckily I had an almost brand new brown colored shoe box in my craft store. So here is what we came up with…

White is bright!

This is the first wall craft that I made soon¬†after coming to US. I did not have much of¬†craft material here back then, in fact nothing except¬†markers and¬†glitter¬†ūüôā¬†¬†so this one is¬†made¬†just out of¬†that.

Diwali diyas made of wheat flour

Love is the key to a loving home :)

This¬†wall hanging¬†we (Ansh and I) ¬†made for Vikram¬†for this¬†year’s¬†Valentine’s day. I asked Ansh if he could keep this as a secret and he was very excited about sharing a secret with mummy. Well he ¬†kept the secret very well except that he blackmailed me a¬†few times for m n ms, for not finishing his milk, not brushing his teeth at night, not picking up his toys……..

The base of the craft work is made out of cardboard and rest everything is cut out of  patterened paper and yes as I always say Р making it was easy, the only tough part was to come up with the design.

Fabric Bookmarks

Bookmarks always make good gifts for readers (or if the bookmarks are pretty looking they may even inspire people to read :)). Bookmarks can also be gifted along with cards. These ones are  fabric bookmarks and they were very easy to make. The green base with blue flowers is paper and the darker green on top of it is DB fabric. For making these bookmarks gluing ribbons over the fabric really helped in locking the edges and in preventing the threads from coming out.
